Oil Pan Extension of 30mm for BMW Airheads - includes hardware, oil screen gasket and installation instructions.

You will need two oil pan gaskets, see: OP-Gasket427 or OP-Gasket427OE

The oil quantity increases by 1.3liters. The additional oil will reduce engine temperature and the reduced number of cycles with reduce wear on the parts and increase the life of the oil. The inner supports also reduces oil movement in the oil pan.

NOTE: Models with a tension spring holder on the center stand require 2 of these springs: StandSpring583. May fit to other models than detailed in the application table with modifications. Typically these modifications would include lowering the to bar on the center stand to allow the stand to be dropped down into it's position and the spring holders relocated due to interference with the oil pan. No modification is required for the models listed in the application table below.

Installation Instructions (Included with the kit)

  • Two oil pan seals are required for the installation.
  • Drain the oil into a suitable container - wait until the oil pan is completely empty and remove it.
  • Clean the sealing surfaces on the engine housing and on the oil sump to remove sealant and sealing compound residues.
  • Remove the oil pan.
  • Insert the original bolts into the oil pan and measure how much of the thread of the original bolts protrude.
  • This projection must be the same when the oil pan is extended with the spacer and the longer bolts are inserted.
  • Choose the correct pair of the provided bolts 60mm, 70mm or 80mm.
  • Now attach the oil pan and spacer with bolts including washers and gaskets. (We recommend applying locking compound "Medium" on the bolts.)
  • Place one oil pan gasket with some sealing compound on the bottom and another oil pan gasket on the top of the extender. Use very small amounts of sealing compound on the gaskets.
  • Now fasten the oil pan with the extender using the hexagon socket bolts and torque to 10Nm.
  • Attach the Oil Pickup Extension with the two gaskets and longer bolts provided.
  • Refill oil plus an additional quantity (approx. 1.3 liters), refer to the oil dipstick for final level.
  • NOTE: One hexagon socket bolt is shorter than the others and measures M6x50. This must be inserted under the oil filter cover when installing "front right" bolt.
  • A longer bolt presses on the outer casing, which causes a loss of oil pressure and would result in considerable engine damage.
  • Some models may require adjustments to the main stand.
