- For 1970-1976 models with 8-Tooth drive gear pinion, select the 8 Tooth Starter Option = BMW-STR1M option (additional $56)
- For 1977-1996 models with 9-Tooth drive gear pinion, select the 9 Tooth Starter Option = BMW-STR1 option

EDL4 Alternator:

Updates the BMW Airhead original, under-performing 20 amp (max) alternator and diode board with modern components.
The critically important higher amperage output of this system at low engine RPM's allows use of lighting, heating and other accessories to be used without discharging the battery or overloading the original charging system.
High-tech permanent magnet rotor will never overheat and short out. Brushless design eliminates worn out rotor slip rings and brushes.
Eliminates "burnt out warning light" no-charge condition of Bosch systems
Ducati Energia combination voltage regulator / rectifier made in Italy.
Wires up with included wiring harness for minimal, if any, terminal crimping.
Original alternator/engine cover fits over the alternator with no alterations required.
Designed and manufactured to modern OEM specifications.
Incredible low RPM output of 280 Watts at just 2000 RPM's

EDL-IGNS:

Modern electronic technology updates the BMW Airhead's under-performing Bosch ignition system.

The critically important ignition timing is maintained with a crank-mounted trigger rotating past a micro-size hall effect sensor.

Dyno developed advance curves for BMW single- and also dual-spark system can be chosen during installation.

The original Bosch ignition system can be left in place.

The Ignition Kit contains the following components:

EDL-Coil3.0OHM:

High voltage primary terminals.
Ultrasonically welded and sealed against moisture.
Compact size fits easily under tank.
Peak gap current in excess of 50mA.
High impact thermoplastic housing.
Over 40,000 volts per output.
For stock single spark models only.
Included are both styles of coil mounting bracket, only one will be used.

BMW-WSR18:

Copper multi-strand inner core wire.
7mm "classic" black silicone jacket.
5k ohm resistor spark plug covers with terminal stud connector for positive lock on 14mm spark plug stud (nipple nut removed.)
Silicone coil plug end.
Silicone withstand temperatures up to 1200°F / 650°C

BMW-STR1 or BMW-STR1M:
The EnDuraLast starter has 70% to 140% more cranking torque than a new Bosch starter with 20% less amperage draw. Your new EnDuraLast starter will provide years of reliable service due to it’s efficient modern technology and design producing the increased power rating. The key features are:

Magnet retention includes spring clips to ensure magnets do not become loose.
New technology provides lighter (6.5 pounds) starter motor with 70 % higher output than the old Bosch design.
More efficient high strength permanent magnets that replace conventional field coils, requiring less amperage to turn the starter over. This allows the battery to provide increased voltage and amperage to the ignition system resulting in faster rpm turnovers and quicker starts with less amp draw on the battery.
Will operate where other imitation conversion starters will not due to the Denso gear-reduction starter design having a large solenoid with sliding drive-gear assembly designed for automotive applications with large battery reserves.
Features a low-voltage solenoid "pull-in" requirement.
Permanent magnet style starter will also retrofit older Bosch field coil starters (0.7 Kw).
This starter is application-designed for small batteries.

IMPORTANT: Ensure you are installing the starter with the correct # of gear teeth on the starter drive to match the model year and ring gear installed on the engine. If the incorrect starter is installed it will damage the new starter and / or the ring gear !
