Output Shaft Oil Seal on Paralever Models.
SPECIAL NOTE: Install the seal with the side containing the spring is inside the gearbox. No sealant is required on the outside circumference of the seal if the your casing seat is clean and unblemished. Ensure that the rotating flange is clean and dry.Special BMW Service Information: Pull the flange off the gearbox output shaft and remove the old seal. Seal the notch hole at the 12 o'clock postion with a suitable sealant such as DriBond and install the new seal.
NOTE: The seal provided by BMW can lead to leaks if not correctly installed. We therefore provide a seal with a TRIPLE LIP seal for the ultimate solution - see: GearboxSeal514Plus.
